EDA Denounces The Detention Of Dr.”Ali Zakaria” In Sanaa International Airport
The Egyptian Democratic Academy (EDA) denounces the arbitrary detention of Dr. Ali Zakaria, Cairo branch manager of EDA, early this morning, by the Yemeni National Security agency at Sana’a International airport. Although Dr. Ali was invited by one of the Yemeni NGOs, to monitor the coming elections that would take place next Tuesday, and he didn’t violate any Yemeni laws, he has been detained as soon as he arrived at Sana’a airport and is being questioned now for ten hours.
Dr. Ali was told that the Egyptians who visit Yemen for the first time aren’t allowed to enter Yemen. Thus, we find can put our relationship with Yemen in a very critical situation, especially after the Egyptian and Yemeni revolutions.
Hereby we lodge formal complaints to Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Egyptian Embassy in Sana’a, as well as the Yemen Embassy in Cairo, against what happened and still happening, demanding clarification.
Statement to Masses of the Egyptian people And its Legitimate Representatives…
To Masses of The Egyptian People
And it’s Legitimate Representatives
In light of a full year of the Military Council’s clear failure for any of the revolution’s goals to be achieved, Neither better living conditions nor dignity, not enen social justice .. The goals that thousands of our martyrs souls have been given for, in addition to tens of thousands of injured and wounded Egyptians, While was clearly evident failure in the management of the country economically which reflected on the living conditions negatively turning it from the worse to the worst within rising prices in like crazy, gas cylinders have disappeared, fuel gas and solar as well, investors ran away and foreign exchange reserves fell to its lowest level, and the failure of security performance is to be completed with another in the political performance till the extent of fueling the conflict and discord between the Egyptians.
Based on this failure in the performance of the Council, And lack of confidence in the impartiality during the development of the Constitution and running the presidential elections, we hereby head all Egyptians together with their representatives in the Egyptian parliament with a calling for taking their responsibility towards the following issues :

EDA Statement: “Civil society … Affinity for the zero draw ending match”
While a historical year ends, a year of which has witnessed the fall of the past Egyptian regime’s head .. a year that historians will stop by on to write large number of references for conditions of changing and history of revolutions in the world .. The organizers of the interim administration in Egypt –while same- come up with proves that the Egyptian administration have made internal changes dropping down the past regime while keeping it’s head –together with his family members- honored safe and very well respected! .. before that historical year -2011- ends, hordes of various security officers “civilian officers & military soldiers ” accompanied by members of the public prosecutor attack –in paramilitary forces- number of some civil society organizations offices in a number of Egyptian governorates with excessive forces aiming by which to showing their power keeping their prestige after what they have been facing recently from failings in directing and moderating the transitional period in Egypt .
The state of division and polarization by the remnants of the State Department of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior and the Attorney General under the cover of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces –who moderates the situation from beyond the curtain- have all supported such actions using the regime supporting media weapon –means lead by the regime- to discredit and drag the civil society with all of it’s levels to a zero draw ending match –of which you get confused whether it is caused by misunderstanding and confusion or they really mean it- where the looser by the end will not be but the side that believes he is more patriotic denying it from others directing charges and cannot prove being guilty of.
What happened on Thursday 29 December of raids and the events preceded confirm the existence of a plan and agenda to guard against the containment of the Egyptian revolution which is convenient to what has been said by one leader of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces during his speech that if the Council is in a situation that it has to choose between collapse of the state and the collapse of the military there will be “the military to remain” is their choice, claiming that the military can set a state while the opposite cannot happen!
The Egyptian Democratic Academy assures that the civilian people are the ones who were patient and preserved and they were the only –and only them- to build the Egyptian army after the setback of June 1967 of which one of it’s causes was Vanity and lack of recognition errors that turned the whole situation to such setback of which the Egyptians were great enough to pass over using it’s shield that he owns and pays it’s expenses from the taxes paid .
The Egyptian Democratic Academy expresses his fear that there is in the vicinity of the authority which manages and directs the country who doesn’t want for Egypt to turn to a real democratic country as there is great fear from such thing to reflect on what he has been enjoying from privileges and interests –either as individuals or as institutions- so as not to speak up and ignore what was happening from the scheme for the destruction of Egypt, and submit it to the heir by blood instead of designation .
The Egyptian Democratic Academy as well acknowledges the need to return dignity of the state which can not be understood outside the scope of law enforcement to all without discrimination or exception
The Egyptian Democratic Academy warns that attempts to break bones or show of force is no longer acceptable locally, regionally or internationally, and The results of these policies that Mubarak did not dare to use will make the fate of those who are using it much worse than the fate of the ousted president and his men either on the screens of the world or on the pages of history.
May God protect Egypt and its citizens, youth, men and women, and God bless the martyrs of Egypt without whom it would not all are either slaves leave behind.
“YES” To Elections .. “NO” To Rush
During these vulnerable defining moments in the life of the nation which require full cooperation of all it’s sectors and groups, regardless of the type, origin, color or creed..
And by the time of which “The Egyptian Democratic Academy” has already announced suspending all activities related to election observation, which coincided with a sharp deterioration in the security situation, which we consider to be a condition intrinsic to the safety of any voting process, and despite our deep belief that this election is the only way to put Egypt on the path of democratic transformation, provided being free and fair elections..
Based on all this, The Egyptian Democric Academy “EDA” announces his worries and fear from continuing in the electoral process in light of the general atmosphere accompanying especially in light of the surprising performance of the Supreme Council of the armed forces acting too slowly in taking actions to defuse a crisis of which he was the reason of breaking same out from the very first beginning ignoring the voice of the rebels in Tahreer Square.
We, as well, are expressing being surprised of such performance, which we hope will not be deliberate for that we do believe in its members patriotism and self-denial andtrue willingness to die for the nation and it’s dignity, but we are entitled to wonder about the secret of the clear stubbornness to the demands of the revolution in a national salvation government that enjoys all powers formed out of the compatible characters with the revolution and return to perform his duties in the protection of the borders of the homeland and keeping it safe.
Yet we wonder, how we head for elections under this deteriorating security conditions to hold elections that is so important to chart a course for the future of Egypt!!
We also have to wonder about the mechanism for ensuring the integrity of the electoral process, which has been decided to take place over two days by a time our memories are filled with a long legacy of mistrust in the electoral and the mechanisms by which the executive authority could interfere in the electoral process!
Us to wonder, as well, about how the Ministry of Interior is to adjust such security chaos and lawlessness is clear within hours after the failure of adjusting same for months!
After this hysterical performance in dealing with a small group in Tahreer Square killing some of them and throwing their bodies on garbage heaps, which leads us to question “Will the organizers of the electoral process to insure the safety of the Egyptian voter and other parties of the electoral process as insuring safety of the judges in an action that shows how serious the process and a message that looks so strange in such critic time!
We are putting these fears questions in the hands of those responsible for the electoral process and the Supreme Council Of The Armed Forces to assume full responsibility in front of God and the people, and history for the shedding of any Egyptian blood, Violation or exceeding in the process that it’s introductions are reported evidence of it’s results.
God save Egypt and victory for her people.
Obama’s Administration And Repression .. Together Hand In Hand
In light of current events -which illustrate that governments, administrations of states and ruling regimes are all equals but they only show some difference dealing with situations- the U.S. President’s administration and his advisors, defense minister and his national security advisors have proved such equality through supporting the Supreme Council of Egyptian armed forces with new bombs that is even more powerful than the expired ones that has been used in the past by the toppled regime by 25th and 28th of January, and the new ones that has been used during the demonstrations of 27th May and, as well, the bombs that have been used over the past 72 hours which lots of Egyptian youth have cited because of using same, the thing that the whole world has been watching and talking about, those bombs were made in U.S.A.!
Egyptian youth are not testing grounds for the U.S. bombs -which are may be used as well in Yemen, Bahrain and Syria-, and we even do not rule out that it is also being used in Iran for the suppression of freedoms and silence the voice of citizens .
“The Egyptian Democratic Academy” believes that the U.S. administration supports only what corresponds to their own interests dealing with the American youth the same repressive and barbaric way!
For this, “The Egyptian Democratic Academy” announces boycotting any visits of any of President Obama’s administration members or any of the U.S. government members as an objection to such cooperation with police forces –with it’s both civil and military faces- in killing the demonstrators since the 25th January till now.
“The Egyptian Democratic Academy” demands also the American civil society organizations and the international organizations on the territory of the U.S.A. and outside to take action to stop the continuation of Obama’s administration in supporting killing and injuring peaceful demonstrators who believe that the right to sit and the right to strike are prevented only by governorates that only gasp behind its own interests even if it takes them to step upon bodies of its citizens who elected them to pay their salaries.
EDA: People will remain and the regime will fall..
In a repeated scenario that does not lead to anything different except the same sense of disgust, tension and anger, the world has followed how Egypt is still governed by a police mentality. While that the Ministry of Interior retreats from its responsibility in preserving state and individual security, it retuned back to securing the Square followed by a sudden retreat.
The black hordes are back just before the as a bitter medicine that we have to swallow in in order to pass the transition period which is going to be the longest of its kind. This raises the crucial point of how would the Ministry of Interior be able to protect the electoral process after what happened today, where the police attacked the families of the martyrs and victims of our great revolution that the entire world has appreciated. Without the sacrifices of those victims Egypt would have taken a turn into a very dark path. The protagonists who attacked those people on purpose have not been punished yet for their crimes. Those who attacked the protestors were not just trying to stop them or interrupt their progress but they intentionally tried to harm them, maiming them and even killing them.
These recent events come at a time to indicate that those who are ruling the country do not have a unified directed vision. They are perplexed, inconsistent and contradictory in all their decisions since they are not equipped to deal with democracy or the understand how to mange the process or deal with the protesters. The contradictions we are witnessing indicates that there are some internal conflict where there are those who are supportive of democracy while there are others who trying to destroy the country and its pillars; but they are all in one team and none of them accepts to provide either an apology or an explanation.
The Egyptian Democratic Academy demands that the Head of Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) and his deputy to appear on air immediately and provide a clear and open explanation; provide those involved in past and current atrocities against protesters to civilian prosecution (not a military one) and immediately accept the resignation of the Esam Sharaf’s Cabinet.
Everyone including the head of SCAF should learn that Mubark is gone and will never return back and that the Egyptian people will not accept any less that a truly democratic civilian government that is based on the principles of citizenship. It should be also clear that whoever works in the public sphere should know that they are being paid with taxpayers funds an should work for the pride and honor of every Egyptian.
Glamour Names Egypt’s “Facebook Girl” as Woman of the Year
Glamour Magazine honors Esraa Abdel Fattah as a “Woman of the Year” for her leadership in organizing the historic Tahrir Square movement in Egypt earlier this year.
During the protest in January, Esraa was active on the Internet, on the ground in Tahrir Square, and in the media—regularly updating the news on the opposition both on Twitter and television. She was dubbed “Facebook Girl” after the Mubarak regime arrested her in 2008 for organizing the April 6 Facebook Youth Movement—a mobilization of thousands of young Egyptians demanding political change. This movement eventually fueled the revolution that ended Mubarak’s reign on February 11.
